Exploring the Repeater- By Ron DeCorte (DVD).

This video takes you through the complete disassembly, cleaning, lubrication, and reassembly of a modern extra flat minute repeater. "Striking-watches, repeaters and grandsonnerie are my passion. I suppose you could look back in my resume and see that I studied with Philippe Dufour, the master of striking watches. Or maybe it's just the pure mechanic complexity that intrigues me. In any case i've seen a lot of striking watches that have been improperly handled and serviced causing great damage. So, with some prompting by a few colleagues, I decided to make this video. Hopefully you'll find it useful and enlightening." Ron Decorte is an AWCI Certified Master Watchmaker. His experience includes many years of study and work in Switzerland as well as making his own watches.

Flat Polishing - Ron DeCorte (DVD).

Details

Ron DeCorte is recognized in the U.S., Switzerland and the rest of Europe as a highly-skilled craftsman capable of designing and producing any part required for the most complicated timepieces. In addition to having mastered these skills, Mr. DeCorte is a natural teacher. As you view this video, you immediately become aware of the pleasure he derives in sharing his skill and knowledge with those who are serious about improving their skills. Using a Maltese cross stop-work, he demonstrates the technique he has developed to produce a fine, flat (black) polish on the piece. He begins by preparing several laps so they have surfaces that will produce the desired finish. Using an India stone, he stones the piece. The stoning process is followed with laps containing #6 micron and #3 micron diamond paste. To prove that anyone can acquire this skill, Mr. DeCorte talks a novice with no watchmaking background through the process. This results in producing a very satisfactory polish on the Maltese cross. Suggested Use: Individual study and horological meetings. Produced by AWCI. Approximately 42 minutes
